Elizabeth Carbide Die Co. was founded in 1954 to manufacture brand-name Tablet Press replacement tooling. Since then, we have grown into a global leader in compression technology.
In over our 70 years of experience in business, we are truly grateful and humbled by the trust granted to us by our faithful customers. The family of Elizabeth companies has grown to become one of the world’s leading manufacturers of tablet tooling, tableting presses, turrets and press parts in the pharmaceutical industry. The company also serves a diverse group of industries including nutraceutical, battery, chemical catalysts, nuclear fuels, propellants, electronics, and confectionery industries to name a few.
Elizabeth Carbide Die Co. Inc., world headquarters for Elizabeth, was founded by Melvin B. Peterson in Elizabeth Township, a suburb outside of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Starting as a six man shop in 1954, Elizabeth Carbide introduced the use of carbide punches and dies to the pharmaceutical industry in the United States, establishing themselves as innovators in the compression tooling industry, a quality the company still strives for today.
Elizabeth Carbide of North Carolina (Lexington, NC) was established in 1977 in response to our rapidly growing pharmaceutical punch and die tooling business and specialized in the manufacture of round compression tooling and hot-forge tooling. Due to increasing demand for hot-forge tooling Elizabeth Carbide NC was divested and purchased by its largest client in 2023.
Upon reaching the milestone of three decades in business Elizabeth took the bold step of partnering with Hata Iron Works of Kyoto, Japan to establish Elizabeth-Hata International (North Huntingdon, PA) in 1984. Today Elizabeth Tablet Presses is a leading supplier of high-speed rotary tableting presses for pharmaceutical and industrial product manufacturers.
In 2001, Elizabeth acquired and today partners with Scheu & Kniss (Louisville, KY), the leading manufacturer of high-quality tablet press replacement parts, turrets, and rebuild services having roots dating back 100+ years.
The move to a global economy proceeded at a pace few had anticipated. Today international business is no longer the exclusive market of giant conglomerates. Elizabeth has successfully transitioned into world markets, providing a level of performance and customer service unequaled by the competition. Elizabeth’s worldwide capabilities are built upon the same foundation that assures the success of its clients: innovative design capabilities, state-of-the- art-engineering, constant attention to quality control throughout the manufacturing process and the highest commitment to service before and after shipment.
Elizabeth is honored to serve our customers in their global business operations, and we shall always strive to supply the highest level of performance, integrity, and value in our daily interactions.
